Series 29 "Tiny Worlds - Big Stories" - Photo Contest Winners
And the Winners Are...
The results are in! Thank you to everyone who entered our Series 29 Photo Contest.
Once again, we were impressed by the creativity, storytelling, and photography skills on display throughout the contest. Each entry found a different way to bring these minifigures to life, whether through an Alpine festival, a steampunk bounty hunt, or the cramped apartment of an aspiring novelist with a rather unusual source of inspiration.
This round also brought a fun milestone: two of our three winners are returning champions from previous Minifigures Plus photo contests. The podium is beginning to develop its own hall of fame.
First Place: Tim Schneider
Prize: $100

Tim Schneider takes first place with a wonderfully imaginative scene set inside a tiny Alpine village bakery. The carefully constructed setting, expressive characters, and wonderfully chaotic airborne cake give the photograph a sense of motion and personality. It feels like a single frame plucked from a much larger story.
After winning, Tim let us know he was putting together a blog post with the behind the scenes details. You can read all about that here.
Fun fact, his photo will also be featured on our upcoming coupon cards. If you order in the next few months, you can expect to see it there.
Submitted Story
Fasnacht is a time of new beginnings in a tiny Alpine village, a time to welcome spring and scare winter with frightening masks and brash brass music. But what happens when a magical tuba—played so sweetly, for love—brings a chocolate dragon to life?
Second Place: Jonny Angel
Prize: $50

This action-packed steampunk scene earned second place with its rich details, adventurous atmosphere, and clever use of depth. From the sharply focused bounty hunter in the foreground to the lively crew aboard the ship, the photograph makes us want to know where this motley expedition is heading next.

Block and load crew, we gotta collect that bounty! Full steam ahead! Abraham Lincoln fetch me my rifle.
Third Place: Zachary Scheer
Prize: $25

Zachary takes third place with a scene that rewards a closer look. The cluttered apartment, scattered creative fragments, and half-formed characters bring the writer’s imagination to life in miniature form. It is an inventive visual interpretation of the creative process, complete with writer’s block, an aspiring hero, and a few strategically placed flies.
Submitted Story
Most people considered them trashy romance novels, but to E.W. Gross writing these books was his window to another world. And being that his actual window faced a wall of bricks, his gift for imagining a better view became instrumental to his world building! After several initial ideas for a new character were thrown in the bin, E.W. realized that he was struggling to visualize his horse riding hero. E.W.’s breakthrough came when he looked to his own inner beauty for inspiration and gave the protagonist a rotting pumpkin head that mirrored his own gourd-geous visage. His writers’ block was almost instantly taken out to the curb for pick up! From that point on, it didn’t take long for his newly assembled hero to spot a mermaid in a stream, and for a moment, E.W. Gross’s small studio apartment was cluttered with dreams.
Note: This submission technically exceeded the contest’s character limit. We evaluated the entry with the first 250 characters in mind, while sharing the full story here for everyone to enjoy.
Until Next Time...
Congratulations to Tim Schneider, Jonny Angel (@jonnyangel_designs), and Zachary Scheer!
Bravo as well to everyone who entered. There were many fantastic submissions this round, and plenty of creative shots that could not fit onto the podium.
Our next collectible minifigure photo contest is planned for Fall 2026. Sign up for our newsletter or follow us on social media so you do not miss the announcement!
